DENVER, JUNE 17, 2021. Earlier today, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold claimed executive action and declared a state of emergency over the nation’s alleged “Gold Standard of Elections.” The nature of the emergency remains unclear, except that public pressure is mounting for a forensic audit of the November 2020 election in Colorado.

The official press release states, “The Colorado Secretary of State’s Office today adopted emergency elections rules prohibiting third-parties [read: auditors] from accessing voting equipment in the state of Colorado. ‘Colorado’s elections are considered the safest in the nation,’ Griswold claims.” 

But you’re not allowed to look.

After rambling off a list of leftist talking points, including the antisemitic “Big Lie” trope, Griswold goes on to disparage the forensic audit currently taking place in Maricopa County, AZ. The press release states: 

“A third-party vendor with no election experience is currently performing a faulty, unsecure election audit in Arizona and calls for such sham audits have been spreading in other states. Several Colorado counties have been contacted by third parties offering to conduct audits. Colorado already administers post-election Risk Limiting Audits after every statewide election, which gives a statistical level of confidence that the outcome of an election is correct.”

There are two problems with this statement. First, and most glaringly, Jena Griswold has not visited the Maricopa County audit. She has been briefed by her comrades and regurgitated that into policy, unilaterally, without consulting the state General Assembly. Representative Ron Hanks (R – CO60) has visited the audit in Arizona, and he invited other elected officials to attend.  He was the sole elected official to make the trip. 

“I worked physical security and performed threat assessments as an Air Force officer and, as I observed the processes in place to protect the ballots and the integrity of the audit, I was impressed. I will not get into the specifics of their security, but it was well designed and professionally implemented,” Representative Hanks shared when contacted for comment. “The volunteer work force was from both political parties and included unaffiliated voters as well. There was impressive oversight of their efforts, multiple redundancies, and cameras everywhere to record every moment. Live feeds of the activity are available online.”

The second problem with the Secretary’s panic-filled statement is her reliance on Risk Limiting Audits (RLA) – and her refusal to allow transparency within and beyond them. The RLA has always been the mechanism for the Secretary of State’s Office to audit themselves. They select the independent, accredited auditors they want to work with and conduct the RLA. Then they tell the public the results.

Colorado electeds have gotten away with this narrative because, until very recently, there was insufficient public pressure to validate the Secretary of State’s claims. But that is now changing, and Mrs. Griswold appears panicked.

As public pressure grows for an independent, forensic audit of Colorado elections, Mrs. Griswold has preemptively made illegal the use of third party auditors. Only those auditors selected by her office are allowed to audit the election. Anyone outside this club is told that obstruction, opacity and collusion are signs that the system is working. “It’s the Gold Standard. Trust us. It’s Gold. How could that be bad?”

Trust us, bro.

If Colorado truly is the “Gold Standard of Elections” in the United States of America, why is the Colorado Secretary of State actively obstructing the people’s ability to validate this claim for themselves? This is not the behavior of an administration confident in the validity of their work; rather, it appears that Secretary of State Griswold has something to hide. 

Jena Griswold’s snarky, unprofessional press release shows disdain for Coloradans. It reveals not only her immaturity but, worse, her commitment to a narrative that betrays the truth while serving her personal interests. Crying, “Gold Standard!” into an echo chamber, while refusing to consider – or even discuss – the mounting evidence of fraud, does nothing to bridge the alarming division in our state. It perpetuates it. 

But the tone of Griswold’s press release is not our main concern here. It is her declaration of emergency powers, with no cause other than public calls for transparency into her office, that borders on tyranny and should give pause to anyone who still reveres the US and Colorado Constitutions. 

And you can bet there will be lawsuits. In no other circumstance – public or private sector – can you claim the ability to audit yourself. Yet, Griswold declares such a right with impunity. 

While complicity or criminality is ultimately for the courts to decide, Secretary Griswold has tipped her hand with this latest mood swing. She is panicked, at the very idea of transparency. Still, she knows her triple majority in Denver, her adoring legacy media, and her puppeteers will have her back with this move.

But the people can now see.

We see the crack in their golden façade. The elitist electeds are scared because they know these calls for transparency are not going away. And transparency is corruption’s worst nightmare.

Elections belong to the people, Jena. Your erratic power grab betrays your face, girl.

Ouch.
